Some iconic outdoor ice skating rinks have sadly made the decision not to open this year like Somerset House, Canary Wharf and the National History Museum. However, there are still lots of beautiful places to go skating… across London and beyond!
All these places have taken precautions against coronavirus this year to keep you and your loved ones safe, from staggered skate times to taking temperatures upon arrival.
Without further ado, let’s look at three of the most amazing skating winter wonderlands that will be opening in December!
Take a festive trip back in time this winter at the former home of King Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace.
Tie up your ice skates and skate under the stars, in front of the palace which will be lit up in lots of beautiful bright colours!
When you’ve finished skating, chill out with a glass of festive mulled wine and enjoy a delicious snack at the Miss Polly café.
There is plenty to do for little ones to make a day of it, with a magic grotto and festive fairy hunt in the palace grounds.
There are offers and events taking place throughout December and New Year, with special discounts for key workers and students in January.

Queens House ice rink is located within the beautiful grounds of Royal Museums Greenwich, and is back for its second year, bigger and better than ever!
You’ll not only be guaranteed glorious views of this gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage Site but some fantastic views of the Thames too!

There’s a winter wonderland taking place at Warwick Castle this December, with lots of sparkling lights, festive afternoon teas, a Christmas market and a stunning ice skating rink!
Skate surrounded by frosty frees and the historic castle walls… It’s the perfect family day out for those living in Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.
