The best 3 places to ice skate this Christmas

Tower of London Ice Rink Family Ice Skating

If you love ice skating, whether as a family day out or a date with a loved one, you’re in for a treat this year!

Some iconic outdoor ice skating rinks have sadly made the decision not to open this year like Somerset House, Canary Wharf and the National History Museum. However, there are still lots of beautiful places to go skating… across London and beyond!

All these places have taken precautions against coronavirus this year to keep you and your loved ones safe, from staggered skate times to taking temperatures upon arrival.

Without further ado, let’s look at three of the most amazing skating winter wonderlands that will be opening in December!

Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink

Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink

Take a festive trip back in time this winter at the former home of King Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace.

Tie up your ice skates and skate under the stars, in front of the palace which will be lit up in lots of beautiful bright colours!

When you’ve finished skating, chill out with a glass of festive mulled wine and enjoy a delicious snack at the Miss Polly café.

There is plenty to do for little ones to make a day of it, with a magic grotto and festive fairy hunt in the palace grounds.

There are offers and events taking place throughout December and New Year, with special discounts for key workers and students in January.

Open from 5th December 2020 to 17th January 2021 (excluding Christmas day). Find out more about ice skating at Hampton Court Palace and book your tickets.

The Queen’s House Ice Rink

Queens House ice rink is located within the beautiful grounds of Royal Museums Greenwich, and is back for its second year, bigger and better than ever!

You’ll not only be guaranteed glorious views of this gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage Site but some fantastic views of the Thames too!

Once you’ve enjoyed your skate, why not explore the museum or enjoy a warming mug of hot chocolate with all the trimmings at the Parkside café?
